Three friends, Michael Balzary (Flea), Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons, who studied together at Fairfax High School, formed a band called "Anthym". Accelerating their work with the participation of Anthony Kiedis, one of their school friends, the group searched for a name for their first show. The band members, who gave up on "Anthym" and decided on the name "Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem", thought that this name was too long to be remembered. The name "Red Hot Chili Peppers", which will shake the world a few years later, was first pronounced that day...
The group soon took Los Angeles by storm. The group, which appeared as a front group in many concerts and attracted great attention, had problems that were difficult to avoid after a while. Hillel Slovak, who left the group and rejoined after a while, was battling with drug addiction, and his problems were affecting the whole group negatively.
Despite this negative impact, the work continues, the recordings of "Uplift Mofo Party Plan" and "Abbey Road" seemed to increase not only the reputation of the group, but also its financial power. Everyone thought this moment would be a blast for the group... until Hillel Slovak succumbed to a drug overdose...
With Slovak's untimely loss and Anthony Kiedis's departure to Mexico to deal with his own addiction problems, the band entered an uncertain void. According to many, these negative developments in a row would be the end of Red Hot Chili Peppers. However, these predictions did not reflect the reality. Kiedis and Flea hadn't even considered giving up.
With the participation of Chad Smith and 17-year-old fanatical RHCP listener John Frusciante, the band managed to revolt. Finally; They provided the environment to reach people through music and realize their goal of financial development and growth. In 1989, the band presented the work "Mother's Milk", which included the cover of Steve Wonder's song "Higher Ground", and had started to come a long way in the development process. "Higher Ground" revived the style of the seventies with its lively and harsh rhythms...
In 1991, they toppled the Billboard charts with the work "Blood Sugar Sex Magik". The album, which remained on the list for a year, was deemed worthy of many awards, and the single "Under The Bridge" (one-track album) became a turning point for the band. The word "bridge" denoted Kiedis' battle with drugs and his sad story. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have now managed to turn their own tragedies and emotions into a piece of art!
The group managed to become the most talked about alternative rock band with the positive developments and successful works that received recognition. Among the supporters of Red Hot Chili Peppers were world-famous groups such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. At such an important moment in his band career, Frusciante decided to leave the band. He wanted to continue his music career with his solo albums... However, he reflected this on RHCP, with the frictions and the ugly events that followed.
After Frusciante's departure, many guitarists came to the fore. First Arik Marshall, then Jesse Tobias were selected for the job. But only Dave Navarro could fill the void. Navarro brought the Red Hot Chili Peppers not only his talent but also his own fans and the band became stronger...
The Red Hot Chili Peppers would now seek success in new arenas as well. The first initiatives related to this decision; It was the soundtrack of the movies "Private Parts", "Twister" and "Beavis and Butthead". After a while, Flea returned to acting, which he had tried before, and successfully portrayed a German terrorist in "The Big Lebowski."
In 1998 Navarro left the band. An old friend, Frusciante, would fill his place. Frusciante, who left the band in an eventful way, had now developed himself, matured and decided to work to have a share in the success of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Red Hot Chili Peppers said "Hello" again to both their fans and their old friend Frusciante with their "Californication" album released in 1999. The album was a huge success, and its arrangements of "Scar Tissue" and "Around The World" received numerous awards.
Today, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are known as a world-famous alternative rock band that has taken important steps towards becoming a classic.
Announcing that they will start their first tour with John Frusciante after years with a fun video they shared on their YouTube page, Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the full list of the tour in question and the names that will accompany them on the tour.
Red Hot Chili Peppers will tour Europe in June 2022 and the USA in July. In addition to Thundercat, which will open the night in almost all of the 32 concert tours, The Strokes, St. Vincent, Beck, Haim, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, A$AP Rocky and King Princess will also accompany RHCP at some events.
