Primeira Liga, also known as Liga Portugal, is the top professional association football division of the Portuguese football league system. Liga Portugal is organized and supervised by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional.

Founded in 1934 as an experimental (now official) league called the Campeonato da Liga da Primeira Divisão, it was renamed Campeonato Nacional da Primeira Divisão from 1938 to 1999 and was changed to its current name. Over 70 teams competed in the Primeira Liga, but only five became champions. Among them, the "Big Three" teams - Benfica (37 wins), Porto (29 wins) and Sporting CP (19 wins) - won all but two Primeira Liga titles; other winners are Belenenses (1945-46) and Boavista (2000-01).

Primeira Liga has built its reputation in recent years, placing sixth in the national league rankings as of 2022. In the 2011-12 season, entered the top five for the first time and passed the French Ligue 1. The historic "big five" European league for the first time since 1990. Primeira Liga also ranked fourth in the world according to the 2011 ranking of IFFHS.
