Qatar, the host of the 2022 World Cup, which will be played in stadiums equipped with special air conditioning systems due to the high temperature, will also mark a set of firsts in the history of the tournament.

The tournament, which will be held in the winter months for the first time in its history, is scheduled to take place between November 22 and December 18. The opening match of the 2022 World Cup will be at Al Bayt Stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 people, in Al Khor, Qatar.

2022 World Cup is the first World cup ever to take place in an Arab state and in a country where the population is predominantly Muslim. Qatar, which directly qualifies to participate as the host of the tournament, will play friendly matches with Portugal, Serbia, the Republic of Ireland, and Luxembourg, which are in Group A of the qualifiers, and these matches will not affect the qualifiers. In addition, the European Qualifications for the World Cup will feature 55 teams for the first time, with record participation. The previous record belongs to the 2018 World Cup European Qualifiers that Russia hosted and featured 54 teams.

The match played between Brazil and Colombia in 1977 at the historic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro was watched by 162 thousand 764 ticketed spectators from the stands. This number was engraved in history as the match with the highest number of spectators in the World Cup qualifiers.

Interesting statistics of the history of the World Cups don't end here. The match with the highest number of goals in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers was the 2001 match between Australia and American Samoa. In the 2002 World Cup qualifiers, Australia defeated the American Samoa National Team 31-0 at the Coffs Harbor Stadium of Australia on April 11, 2001. This score set the record as the widest winning margin in an international match and the game with the most goals in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Archie Thompson, who scored 13 goals in the same game, holds the record for being the top scorer in an international match.

Brazil has appeared 21 times in the World Cup finals and holds the record in this field. In addition to this, Brazil also stands out as the only team that hasn't failed in the qualifiers. Germany achieved to be the team which appeared 17 times in a row in the World cup finals and won the World Championship 4 times.

In Qatar 2022 World Cup, there will be eight playing venues, some of which have gone under renovation, and some have been built from scratch.
