Manchester City don’t want to let the title go!

Manchester City, which are fighting for the title in the Premier League, will face Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium. 

The Sky Blues of Manchester were knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals in midweek by Real Madrid with a goal in the last minutes and extra time. After fighting for 120 minutes in the semi-finals and without having time to lick their wounds, they will play a crucial domestic match. In the Premier League, where the fight for the title continues, Manchester City hold the top, 1 point ahead of their closest rivals Liverpool. 

Manchester City lost only once in their last 28 league games against Newcastle United. Their only defeat was in January 2019, a 2-1 away loss. On the other hand, Newcastle, who could not win any of the 16 Premier League matches they played against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, had 2 draws and 14 losses in these matches. In their last 12 visits, they left the field without points. Manchester City, which suffer the disappointment in the Champions League, have failed to win 4 of their last 10 Premier League games. They had lost points in only 4 of the previous 24 matches. 

In the first half of the league, Manchester City won the reverse fixture 0-4, courtesy of the goals by Dias, Cancelo, Mahrez, and Sterling. 

Ahead of the match, Mendy will miss the game in City. In Newcastle, Fraser, Wilson, Hayden, and Lewis won’t have the chance to play due to their injuries. 

On Sunday, all eyes will turn on Manchester City vs Newcastle United, one of the most important clashes on the way to the championship title in England, the cradle of football. We'll see if Newcastle United will give Liverpool a gift or something to worry about this week.
