Fenerbahçe Takes the Stage at Kadıköy!

 

In the second week of the Super League, Fenerbahçe and Antalyaspor will face each other at the Kadıköy Şükrü Saraçoğlu Sports Complex Ülker Stadium. Fenerbahçe, which reunited with their supporters in the Europe League Play-Off match against Helsinki last week after a long time, will meet with them again, this time for the league following a long break. And the yellow-navy team, which reappointed Vitor Pereira before the new season, is shooting for the Super League championship.

Fenerbahce, under the management of President Ali Koç, who has made important transfers in the past seasons, unfortunately, could not achieve sportive success. Both the transfer and the coach choices have rendered Fenerbahçe a team hungry for success for many years. While the new season started in the Super League amid all this confusion, Fenerbahce was the guest of Adana Demirspor in the first week of the league. We can’t say that they displayed satisfying gameplay, but the yellow-navy team managed to have a 1-0 win and started the season with three points. However, it seems the team needs a little more time due to delayed transfers. Especially in the second half of the Adana Demirspor game, the lack of ball possession and the inability to attack were clear indicators of this situation. Likewise, if we look at the UEFA Europe League Play-Off match played against Helsinki last week, it is possible to see that Fenerbahçe experiencing some difficulties in scoring. The yellow-navy team, which left the field with a 1-0 advantage by scoring a goal thanks to the individual attack of the young player Muhammed, needs to eliminate the shortcomings they suffered as soon as possible.

As for Antalyaspor, which is coached by Ersun Yanal who had also coached Fenerbahçe in the past, they started the league with a 1-1 draw with Göztepe. You may remember that they were the finalists of the Turkish Cup last season. This season, they will play against Beşiktaş again for the Super Cup. Even though we had the opportunity to watch an energetic Antalyaspor on the field against Fenerbahçe, which was in the European arena last week, they left the game with a 2-0 defeat and returned to Antalya without any points.

In the last Antalyaspor match played at Fenerbahçe's home, a very close scenario to the one we mentioned in our last Fenerbahçe blog post took place.  Fenerbahçe won a 2-0 victory, but we also saw that Antalyaspor hung on to the game until the last moment.
